Curaçao cruise port: what to do in 6 hours
Your ship is in port for 6 hours or so? Once you subtract getting off, the way back and a margin before all aboard, you have roughly 4 to 5 hours to enjoy. This is what a 6-hour stop makes possible.
Best use of 6 hours
- Grote Knip (Kenepa Grandi) (5 h, 45 min away): The postcard beach of Curaçao: a white cove below a cliff on the west end. Lovely water, little shade, and a long drive, so only worth it with five hours or more ashore. Playa Lagun and Playa Kalki nearby are good for snorkelling with turtles.
- Christoffel Park and Shete Boka (5 h, 45 min away): Cactus scrubland, the island's highest hill and, next door, the blowholes and wave-cut inlets of Shete Boka on the wild north coast. The summit trail opens only early in the day because of the heat; on a cruise day a guided west-end tour is more realistic.
Also fits, with time to spare
Punda and the Queen Emma Bridge (1.5 h), Curaçao liqueur at Landhuis Chobolobo (1.5 h), Museum Kurá Hulanda (2 h), Hato Caves (2.5 h), Mambo Beach (3 h), Snorkel the Tugboat wreck (3 h). You could combine two of these.
